Rice Krispies

American foods can be so varied in shape, size, spice and whatnot.  Last week the Catracho got home work around 10:30pm.  Both of us were hungry and we decided cereal sounded like the best idea.  While Catracho was heating up his milk in the microwave and I stole the last of the Golden Grahams.  That left Catracho with Cheerios or Rice Krispies.  He chose the latter.  As he poured out the rice krispies he looked at the cereal, than did a double take.  What's that?  He asked.  It doesn't even look like cereal.  This is a mockery of cereal, he said.  Then the cereal started to make noise.  Having never seen or heard this kind of cereal he asked what the noise was.  I chuckled and said, snap, crackle & pop - just like the cartoon characters' hats.  Its the noise it makes.  Catracho shook his head and said, no, no this can't be right.

The simple things in life are something the most intriguing.

Mother's Day

Today is the day we celebrate mothers.  I have been blessed with a mom was loves me.  God has also richly blessed me with adopted mothers that have taken me in, lent a listening ear and given advice when my own mother was far away.  I tend to adopt mothers wherever I go - which to me is a reflection of what I good mother I was given.  Adopted mothers are older women who have counseled me through various stages of life.  Most of them are in my life for a short time before the tide changes and I moved to some place new.  So to my mother and all of my adopted mothers who span the globe from Honduras, Mexico, Kansas, Illinois, Pennsylvania and beyond, thank you.  Thanks for lending a listening ear.  And most importantly, thanks for pointing me back to Jesus for all of life's true answers.
